2010
Royal Cinque Ports & Princes
Date: 12th & 13th August 2010
Winner: Mr Sullivan
Runner up: Mr Rees
Beast joined us for our second trip as we made our way to the Kent coastline. Andy G also joined for the first day, taking Richie’s place at fairly short notice (can you spot a trend developing here?)
We played 36 holes at RCP on the Thursday and 18 holes at Princes on the Friday morning. Unfortunately, a severe storm prevented us from playing again in the afternoon and so the tournament was decided over 52 holes. Ant took home the silverware (not that there was any as we didn’t have trophies until the following year - and even then it turned out to be glassware - OK, I’ll move on).
RCP was good but slightly underwhelming if truth be told and a bit short by modern standards. It certainly couldn’t host The Open today. Princes was a much stronger course and was a real test in the prevailing winds.

We stayed in a pub that had very colourful carpets. I think they may have been plain when originally installed. We had an interesting night out in Deal and were relieved that every man was accounted for back at the hotel. Beast had 2 take-away kebabs, circling back on himself without breaking stride.
Post-script: Jarvo was sadly out of form and lost quite a lot of balls, as well as his desire to play golf
again, ever. He subsequently tendered his resignation, which was reluctantly accepted.
